Summer Learning Journey Week 4 Day 5 Activity 2

Activity 2: En Pointe [4 points]
Most successful ballerinas start learning ballet when they are very young - 3 or 4 years old. World famous ballerina, Misty Copeland, wasn’t like most other girls. Instead of starting at age 3, she started ballet lessons at age 13!
By 14, Misty had won a national competition for ballet dancers. She continued to work very hard and, in 2015, she became the first African Amercian principal (lead) dancer of the Amercian Ballet Theatre - this is amazing because there were, and still are, very few African American ballet dancers in the country. When interviewed, Misty has said that she would like people to be able to “see dreams through me”. This is an example of an inspirational quote. For this activity, please choose your favourite inspirational quote from this website. Create a text graphic using this quote.
On your blog, share your text graphic and underneath it, explain what it means to you.

I got this from another website because I couldn't understand the ones on the givin site. I nomaly like helping others such as friends, family and strangers when they have bad, sad or  jealous feelings and need help. I'am that sort of person.

CONGRATULATIONS for finishing this years' SLJ programme, "Changemakers: People who have changed the world" - you're the FIRST learner from St Pius X to have finished, what a tremendous achievement!

Thanks for completing this activity and for finding your own inspirational quote - where did you come across this quote? It sounds like you enjoy uplifting those around you when they're down, is that right? Is this something you do for anyone when they're feeling down?

Congratulations again, Lukas. Don't forget to keep commenting on other learners' SLJ related work to earn more points - you'll be that much closer to winning heaps of prizes!

  3. Good Morning Lukas,

This is Samuel, Mrs. Tui's son, as you probably already know. I really like the quote that you have chosen for this blog post. It is a very inspirational one to try live life as a better person. After all, all it takes is a smile to make someone cheerful again.

I also like the presentation and layout of your blog post, with the background image being very relevant to the quote. As you probably know from our conversations that we have had, education and academics is very important to my family and I, so when I sometimes struggle during stressful study sessions, I always tell myself this quote, which remind me that success comes with preparation. I all honesty, I don't think anyone regrets having a bit of preparation, because it always helps.

"Give me 6 hours to cut down a tree, I will spend the first 4 hours sharpening the axe" - Abraham Lincoln.

    Kind Regards,
    Samuel
