Ki-O-Rahi. I knew how to play the game already because at my old
school we learned at Te Reo Maori class. This is an explanation of how
the game works, the meaning and how it was created:
Ki-O-Rahi is a traditional maori game that was played by tribes for when
they got in arguments, they would play the game to get over the
argument. Ki-O-Rahi also has a background story to make up the game.
It was also named after the story. Every Monday our school has Ki-O-Rahi
after morning tea. We have learned the basics of the game and all the
bases and areas. There are 2 teams called Taniwha & Kioma, they both
have their own ways to score points and also have roles.
We started to play and we got really good at. I enjoyed it a lot because it was fun and it made me more fit.
